How does UI design transcend beyond websites

In earlier days, User Interfaces has to be effective for websites specially designed for desktop viewing. Now, there is a paradigm shift happening in digital era. At times, since the emergence of BYOD, flat designs for multiples devices and with different platforms are eye catchers for today’s young generation, Interface has to be effective for all the mobile devices.

Too many devices and applications and demand for lot of context which we want to present at the first instance to our viewers brings lot of complications and expertise, what to show, what not to show, what will creates a fantastic first impression and at the same time, helps them gain the insights easily which they are looking for without wasting a second of their time.

Simplicity is the ultimate form of
Sophistication-said by Steve Jobs

Application Designing is now top on talks, simpler the usability in Interface, better it goes among the viewers. This demands entire fresh looks and completely new outlook the way we looked at websites. Demand for today is more functionality and features but with the simplest usability and ease of use. This is where a UI Designer plays a key role in bringing out the best among all the possibilities.

There are few principles which should be considered while outlaying User Interface for multiple devices.

Consistency:

Design Consistency is the key. Users Experience on all the mobile devices must be the same. It adds ease of users to navigate effectively. Double click on one item in the list should give the same experience and feel while doing the same to other item in some other list. Placement of buttons, labels should match with all the mobile devices.

Design Standards:

Design Standard is what differentiates an organization with the others. Set your own Design standards and stick to that for all the devices.

Design Structuring:

Structuring and lay outing could be different for different devices, but meeting a standard and structuring for all the different devices is where competency comes in.

Flexibility:

Design flexibility and visibility explains the same experience, whichever device we use for our daily navigation. Either a Responsive web design or a complex mobile application, same requires complete flexibility for its different users to operate with ease.

Tangibility:

Users might use mouse track pad or keyboards to interact with the interface, or touching the UI with his fingers, although mode of interaction is different but tangibility should be admirable.

Content Dependency:

Content is King. Interface has to be easy to use in different lighting condition or with different category of users. It gives higher level of challenge to many designers and with proficiency they design UI considering High level of context.
